Cakes & High Heels | “Sock-It-To-Me” & Guiseppe Zanotti (By @DreaOnassis) | #SoPhi

Your resident SoPhi baker is back and I’m so excited to introduce to you CAKES & HIGH HEELS! Nothing is more intriguing than a well-balanced woman. Cakes & High Heels will feature the same recipes for sweet treats to bake for your family or the man in your life, as well as a nice shoe for that romantic night out with the guy or the girls. This segment will also feature sweet getaways and sexy events!

This was the first cake I baked in 2013, and it’s a southern classic. A Sock-it-To-Me is made from scratch, and consists of a rich yellow cake baked in a tube pan with a streak of cinnamon, brown sugar and pecans. (NOTE: I often bake this without nuts, it’s a matter of preference!)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
6 eggs
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Sift
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Pour half of batter into prepared tube pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon, brown sugar and nuts. Pour in remaining batter.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 90 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
