Primos Hoagies
While usually one could say “The pictures they show are nothing like the product you receive.” Well, with a primo Hoagie it was very much like the picture you see here. (I would have taken a pic of mine, but before I could remember, I ate half of the damn thing.).. I ordered Turkey and it came on Primo’s one of a kind bread. To be quite honest in all my years living in Philadelphia I never had a chance to try a Primo. I wandered in because the sign on the window said “Hoagie”. Well there’s only one place on Earth I’m aware of that calls them Hoagies. I wasted absolutely no time walking thru the doors. I spotted Herr’s chips to my left and my heart literally said “YESSS”. I calmed down and drew up conversation with the Italian lady and who’d I assume was her daughter. Not before long did they hip me to where they were from and I advised them that I was from North Philadelphia. I ordered my Turkey hoagie and let me tell you this: NOTHING IS BETTER THAN NOT HAVING TO TELL SOMEONE HOW TO MAKE A HOAGIE, STEP-BY-STEP. As my sandwich was being made they told me they delivered and IN FACT, delivers to my building all the time. I immediately put their number into my phone.

I strolled back home. It took everything in me to not unwrap my sandwich and eat it while I walked. The scent was seducing my nostrils and soul. I walked by my doorman without speaking, rushed to the elevator before it closed and it seemed like those 22 floors up to my floor was the longest ride I ever took. I finally get into my condo, sat down and bit into home. My childhood flashed before my eyes. South Street, The Liberty bell, The Art Museum (Rocky Steps), the Mummers parade and even an Eagles game. I shed a tear. It was real. Home away from Home is real. The best sandwich shop on South Beach belongs to a beautiful family from Philadelphia.. and I’m quite happy about it!
