Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like Murphy’s Law is the only operating law in effect? A day where everything that could go wrong does and just when you think it’s over something else happens that’s less than favorable? I remember when I first moved to New York and I was super low on cash. The bank I was using in St. Louis had no locations here in New York and there was a hold on my account. I received my last check from my job in St. Louis and first of all it was less than I expected then it was also issued from the same bank I used that has no locations here. Combined with the stresses of moving somewhere where I knew no one, had no job, and barely had a place to stay, I remember feeling overwhelmed and just breaking down in the middle of the street. I felt powerless and stuck and like I had made the biggest mistake of my life by picking up and moving here. At least for about ten minutes before I went into problem solver mode and started thinking of my options.
A lot of times when we feel stuck, we forget that we have options and we forget that circumstances do change. We also forget that we can aid in our circumstances changing by taking action. After I got through my breakdown, I ended up just going to another bank and opening a new account and saw the dilemma as life telling me to manage my money smarter. If you are feeling stuck, take a deep breath and know that whatever it is will pass. Calm yourself and identify all possible options for getting unstuck. Choose an option, any option, as long as you choose one to carry out, life will respect your effort and support you the rest of the way!
