Don’t dim your light for anyone. That’s some of the best advice I have ever received. Not your family, friends, bosses, coworkers, significant others, NO ONE! We forget that people’s insecurities are only reflections of what is happening internally and have nothing to do with us and instead personalize their actions. And in order to not ruffle feathers, rock the boat, or provoke a thought that may lead to someone’s enlightenment, we shrink. The problem with shrinking is that it doesn’t help anyone, it only leads to greater frustration and aids in that internal battle we’re all fighting. Not playing up our  strengths defeats the purpose of life and keeps us from growing and evolving.

Our aim should be to shine and be our best selves regardless of how anyone else will be affected by it. When it comes to being me, I don’t think it’s the right time to be concerned with others because my needs come first. I have to make sure I am in a good enough position with who I am before I can help anyone else do anything and I can’t be in a good position if I’m not allowing myself to be who I am authentically.

Those who’s ego survives by keeping you ignorant of your own power, release them and take your power back. Do not put the outcome of your life in someone else’s hands. Boss, boyfriend, or bestie. Surround yourself with those who are already where you want to be so they can help lift you higher.

Give yourself a break! Be beautiful, intelligent, friendly, witty, and share what you know. BE GREAT!!! You being yourself helps lift others up, the ones who shrink aren’t worth your time and presence anyway. Your self is a terrible thing to waste.
