Indigestion is a reaction in the stomach that results in the release of gas, abdominal pain, stomach bloating, rumblings, belching, acid bile, nausea, and vomiting. It can be so discomforting, embarrassing, and annoying to the victim. The sure way fixing indigestion naturally is by prevention. You must learn how your body responds to certain foods and drink so you know which ones to avoid. For example, those allergic to certain foods wouldn’t take them to avoid these foods and drinks upsetting their stomach. Greasy or spicy foods can agitate the stomach and cause the release of bile, which leads to indigestion. Also avoid refined foods as they are known to cause indigestion as well.

Drinks that can cause indigestion include high acid content drinks like tomato juice, lemonade, and orange juice, alcohol, caffeine or vinegar drinks. It is advisable if these types of drinks cause you indigestion, you should instead stick in taking water only since it is friendly to the stomach. If you have eaten too much, it is advisable you drink peppermint tea as it is great in soothing the stomach. Taking chamomile tea will also work. Other recommended drinks for soothing the stomach include ginger tea, and candied ginger. A 500 mg capsule of ginger root extract will also work fine.

Your state of mind affects your digestive system. For example, stress is known to cause many digestive disorders. When you experience negative feelings most of the time, the nervous system gets upset, which causes indigestion. The answer to this is to find ways of relaxing your body from stress, anxiety or worry. Try exercises like going for a walk, meditate, or do yoga. In case you are fond of getting disappointed, you need to get used to letting it go.

Taking probiotics products is another natural way of fixing indigestion. These products contain Lactobacilli bacteria, which is responsible for tackling indigestion. The bacteria Lactobacilli or Bifidobacteria are found naturally in the lining of the stomach digestive tract. Example of a naturally occurring probiotic product is cultured milk like yogurt. You can try brands that contain Bacillus coagulans. Probiotics are also helpful in children in the treatment of diarrhea associated with antibiotic intake or viral diarrhea. Probiotics also treats lactose intolerance, inflammatory bowel disease, vaginal yeast infections, irritable bowel syndrome, food allergies, and eczema.

Taking plant-derived enzymes can help you tackle indigestion as they will help you process food well. One such good example is the Artichoke-leaf extract. It increases the flow of bile thereby helping in the digestion of fats so as to prevent indigestion.
